The Cashflow Game

While playing a board game you discover your (old) relationship with money

Have you ever taken the space to really look at your relationship with money and the beliefs that you have?

We all got old limiting beliefs around money, and these beliefs can (still) have an impact on your life. Often, these beliefs come from our upbringing and were deeply ingrained in us since we were children. Some of the expressions I heard growing up were:

  • ´money doesn´t grow on trees´
  • ´you have to work hard for your money’, or
  • one literally translated from Dutch: ‘you have a hole in your hand’.

You can imagine that growing up with these beliefs impacted my relationship with money. A couple of years ago, in 2016, I was part of an entrepreneurs network and I started playing this board game ´The Cashflow game´ from Robert Kyosaki, also the author of ‘Rich dad, Poor dad’. After playing this game I was curious to learn more about it, and I bought the game and started playing it with family, colleagues and friends.

Since then I regularly organize and host these game sessions in the Netherlands and the UK. It’s a fun way to learn more about your beliefs and to create a new fresh healthy mindset with money. The purpose is to become aware of both your own patterns as those of your co-players. You will learn a lot from playing together.

To get out of the ratrace

The aim of the game is to get out of the ratrace, first by recognizing what you do in the ratrace. The game inspires you to notice your deep-rooted beliefs around money, and to change your perspectives on those beliefs. By doing this, you create the space for new, encouraging and an empowered mindset around money, which support you in your daily life.

Experiences from others

“I did not think I had very strong beliefs regards money, however discovered I do! I learned that I can have different perspectives and strategies, even when older. Also my co-players and their view on money was very informative and fun to observe the impact.” Cindy Lo-A-Tjong
